FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim, and found it to be false.

Our team found a report in Mirror, dated 15 July 2017, showing a similar footage. According to the report, a member of Guardians of the North — an undercover organisation, set up to catch 24-year-old Praju Prasad in North Shields, a town in England. He was caught while trying to meet children for sex.

According to a report by Metro, dated 15 July 2017, Prasad engaged in messages and conversations on social media with someone he believed to be a 12-year-old girl. However, he was catfished. He had actually been talking to members of the vigilante group pretending to be a 12-year-old. The police were called and Prasad was arrested and charged with attempting to meet a girl under the age of 16 after grooming.

This report also included screenshots of the conversations between Prasad and the group members, where he suggested they “take a room” and “have some fun”. He was then taken into custody by the police, and sentenced to jail for nine months.

Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral video, claiming that an Indian was caught at a UK Metro Station for trying to lure and groom a 12-year-old girl, is misleading.
