Mumbai: In a chilling incident, a 24-year-old woman flight attendant has been found dead in an apartment in Mumbai, following which local police launched a murder investigation, an official said on Monday.

According to the reports, the victim was identified as Rupal Ogrey from Chhattisgarh. The victim had come to Mumbai in April for training with Air India. The incident came to light on Sunday night within an apartment at NG Complex on Krishanlal Marwah Marg in the Marol area of suburban Andheri. The Powai police have registered a murder case against an unknown assailant, and multiple investigative teams are actively working to apprehend the culprit, the official said.

As per the preliminary investigation, the deceased woman had been residing in the apartment with her sister and the latter’s boyfriend. However, it was revealed that they left for their hometown eight days before the tragic incident. The police have informed them about the incident.

As per the officials, on Sunday, the woman’s family tried calling her, but she didn’t answer. Concerned, they reached out to her friends, who went to her apartment. They found the door locked and got no response to the doorbell. So, they called the police for help. The police came and forced their way in, only to find the woman’s body inside.

She was immediately rushed to nearby Rajawadi Hospital where she was declared brought dead. Police officials said that Rupal last spoke to her family on Sunday morning which indicates that she was murdered in the afternoon. The police have registered an FIR under IPC section 302 (murder), and a probe is on into the case.
