NCP Expel Praful Patel, Sunil Tatkare For Anti-Party Activities

Date:

Mumbai: Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar sacked Praful Patel and Sunil Tatkare as the party’s working president and ordered the removal his name from the NCP member register on Monday.

MLA Sunil Tatkare was also removed from the party for anti-party activities.

The development came after Sharad’s nephew Ajit Pawar led a nine people rebellion against his party.

In a tweet, Sharad Pawar said the two MPs have been removed from the NCP for “anti-party activities”. The NCP chief’s action comes hours after NCP MP Supriya Sule also demanded their disqualification.

Working president Supriya Sule earlier on Monday called for their disqualification. “They have indulged in anti-party activities…openly made statements to this effect before the media and have acted in complete violation of the Party’s direction and principles. You may further be informed that this decision of the two MPs to support the nine MLAs has been taken without the permission of the Party President and without taking all members of the party into confidence,” Sule wrote to Sharad Pawar.

Senior NCP leader Ajit Pawar along with 9 other MLAs joined the Eknath Shinde-led Maharashtra government, Ajit Pawar joined as a Deputy Chief Minister on Sunday.

Dealing a major blow to his uncle Sharad Pawar, Ajit Pawar on Sunday took oath as Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra while eight MLAs of NCP joined as ministers.
