The ever-expansive reach of the Formula One World Championship reached the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Sunday. Max Verstappen, the current driver’s standing leader edged out his lead to 170 points, more than two race wins worth of a gap between his nearest competitor, his teammate Sergio Perez.
Perez, known to fans as ‘Checo’, made a remarkable recovery after qualifying down the order in 11th, finishing the race in a commendable 4th position. Mercedes finally looked to be back to their winning ways, with both drivers standing on the podium alongside Verstappen.
Lewis Hamilton was a master on his tires— managing them to the perfect degree to finish in 2nd place. Teammate George Russel made up 9 positions to cross the line in third position, with both drivers commenting on the situation of their race car; which they say has dramatically improved since the Monaco Grand Prix, where Mercedes brought upgrade packages to their cars.
With an action-packed race seeing many overtakes due to the new layout that removed a hindering chicane, Formula One looks to be back to form as the premier racing organisation in the world. At the end of the Spanish Grand Prix, after many heart-in-mouth moments and daring moves down the inside at Turn One, here’s how our Top Ten looked at the end of the race:
P1 — Max Verstappen
P2 — Lewis Hamilton
P3 — George Russel

P9 — Zhou Guanyou
P10 — Pierre Gasly
Once again, Formula One delivered an exciting Grand Prix, and fans can’t wait to see their cars racing on track once more in two weeks’ time, for the Canadian Grand Prix being held on Sunday, 18th June, where once more, it’ll be time for the drivers to see the lights blink out, and go racing again.
