A few images of a huge crowd are doing the rounds on social media claiming that it shows Chennai Super King (CSK) supporters.

NewsMobile fact-checked the post, and found it to be false.

We checked all the images independently and found the following:

Putting the image through Reverse Image Search, we found a similar picture in an article by CNN, dated August 2017, with a caption: “The annual Great Ethiopian Run in Addis Ababa is popular among tourists.”

The same image was also posted by Facebook page Travel to Ethiopia in November 2017 with a caption: Today 44,000 people participated in the Great #Ethiopian Run🇪🇹☀
Andreas Gaarder ran fastest among the ambassadors #GreatEthiopianRun

We found the same image on a website MDG Fund with a caption: Haile Gebreselassie kicks off the Great Ethiopian Run under the slogan “We Can End Poverty by 2015”

This proves that the image in circulation is old and not related to CSK.

We found similar visuals to the second image in a report by Aljazeera, dated December 2012. The headline of the report reads: Thousands celebrate Thai king’s birthday.

A report by The Telegraph, dated December 2012, also carries a similar image with a caption: “Thai people wearing yellow shirts gather to listen to a speech by Thailand’s King Bhumibol Adulyadej at the Anatasamakom Throne Hall in BangkokPicture: REUTERS/Royal Household Bureau CREDIT: REUTERS/Royal Household Bureau.”

It is clear that the image was taken in 2012 in Thailand.
