New Delhi: Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the president of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP, issued a statement on Sunday in response to charges of sexual harassment. He offered to take the polygraph test on the condition that the wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia also take the test.
Singh, in a statement, said, “”I am ready for a narco test, polygraph test, or lie detector test if the same test of wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia is also conducted along with his test.”
Earlier, the WFI chief had said that the allegations against him were completely baseless. He further went on to add that he is ready to be hanged if proven guilty.
Singh made headlines a few days before for saying that the wrestlers should return the money and that their medals are worth Rs. 15.
Reacting to this, wrestler Sakshi Malik said in a statement, “He called our years of hard work worth just 15.” He has never seen our hard work. He never gave importance to wrestling and the athletes.”
The wrestlers have been protesting at the Jantar Mantar against the Wrestling Federation of India president, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, demanding his arrest in the alleged sexual harassment charges against several female athletes.
