Hiroshima: PM Modi, who is currently taking part in the G7 summit in the Japanese city of Hiroshima, expressed his willingness to host the future Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (Quad) meeting 2024 in India.
PM Modi, in his opening remarks of the Quad meeting, said, “We will be happy to host the Quad summit in India in 2024.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasised the importance of the Quadrilateral Grouping, an informal strategic forum that includes these countries alongside Japan, in his speech to the leaders of the United States, Australia, and Japan. This alliance’s main goal is to work together to promote an Indo-Pacific area that is free, open, wealthy, and inclusive.
PM Modi said, “Quad will continue to make efforts towards global good, the welfare of the people, prosperity, and peace.”
In a joint statement on Saturday, the Quad leaders condemned terrorism. The statement read, “We unequivocally condemn terrorism and violent extremism in all their forms and manifestations, including cross-border terrorism.”
The statement further stated, “We are committed to international cooperation and will work with our regional partners in a comprehensive and sustained manner to strengthen our capability to prevent, detect, and respond to threats posed by terrorism and violent extremism, consistent with international law.”
The Summit is an international forum held annually for the leaders of the G7 member states of France, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, Italy, and Canada (in order of rotating presidency) and the European Union (EU).
