A post is doing the rounds on social media, claiming that Civil Aviation & Steel Minister and BJP leader Jyotiraditya Scindia has removed ‘BJP’ from his Twitter bio.
Many Facebook users have shared a screenshot of Jyotiraditya Scindia’s Twitter profile where the bio reads: “Union Minister for Civil Aviation & Steel, Govt. of India. Public servant & cricket enthusiast.”
The screenshot is shared with a caption: उसूलों पर आंच फिर आ रही है : केंद्रीय मंत्री ज्योतिरादित्य सिंधिया ने हटाया ट्विटर से भाजपा का नाम …! (English translation: The principles are again in danger. Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia removed BJP’s name from Twitter)
Here’s the link to the above post.
The same claim was also posted by the verified handle of the Madhya Pradesh Youth Congress.
FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the post, and found it to be false.
Searching for the archived versions of Scindia’s Twitter profile on the website Wayback Machine, we traced his profile archived multiple times over the last few months. When we checked the screenshots in the archives, we realised that ‘BJP’ was never mentioned in Scindia’s Twitter bio.
His Twitter bio reads: “Union Minister for Civil Aviation & Steel, Govt. of India. Public servant & cricket enthusiast.”
Moreover, Scindia took to Twitter and clarified that the claim is false. Taking a dig at Madhya Pradesh Congress, he wrote: “मध्यप्रदेश में कांग्रेस पार्टी के पास जनता का कोई मुद्दा नहीं है, इसलिए सुबह-शाम केवल झूठ और प्रोपेगैंडा फैलाना है। मेरे ट्विटर बायो से अच्छा अगर जनता की मन की बात पढ़ ली होती तो 15 महीनों में भ्रष्ट सरकार ना जाती।” (English translation: In Madhya Pradesh, Congress party does not have any issue of the public, so they only spread lies and propaganda every morning and evening. If you had read the mind of the people better than my Twitter bio, then the corrupt government would not have gone in 15 months.)
Thus, we can conclusively say that the claim about Jyotiraditya Scindia removing ‘BJP’ from his Twitter bio is false.
