Indians Making Debut At Cannes Film Festival 2023

Cannes: The much-anticipated 76th Cannes Festival kicked off on Tuesday and will take place until May 27 in the French Riviera town. The film festival will see stars from all around the world walk the red carpet, and many Indian celebrities will also be making their debut at the festival this year.

Opening Night:


On Tuesday, actors Sara Ali Khan and Esha Gupta made their debuts as they walked the red carpet on the opening night.

Sara wore an ivory cream lehenga by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, giving her a fully desi appearance, while Gupta opted for a gown by Lebanese fashion designer Nicolas Jebran.

Manushi Chhillar The former Miss World also walked the red carpet in a breathtaking white Fovari gown.


Urvashi Rautela was spotted wearing a pink tulle dress by Sima Couture. The actress posted photos from the red carpet on Instagram.

Anushka Sharma

Anushka Sharma will be making her debut at the Cannes Film Festival this year, marking a significant milestone in her career. Sharma recently met with France’s ambassador, Emmanuel Lenin, in Delhi, who confirmed Anushka’s eagerly anticipated presence at the Cannes Film Festival.

She, along with Hollywood actress and Academy Award winner Kate Winslet, will be honouring the women and their achievements in cinema.

Sunny Leone:
The actress will make her debut at the prestigious festival this year, where her film ‘Kennedy,” directed by Anurag Kashyap, will be screened.

Dolly Singh:
Instagram sensation and content creator Dolly Singh will also be debuting at the Cannes Film Festival.

She took to Instagram to announce the news, saying, “BIG NEWS!! I’m so grateful, happy, anxious, and excited at the same time! WISH ME LUCK!.”

Andrea Kevichusa:
Andrea, who starred alongside Ayushmann Khurrana in ‘Anek,” will be seen making her debut at the festival.

Other celebrities to make appearances:

Anurag Kashyap will be seen making an appearance for his film screening; Rahul Bhatt, the movie’s lead actor, will also join Kashyap for the screening; Aditi Rao Hydari, who made her debut last year, will once again be seen walking the red carpet; Shannon K singer Kumar Sanu’s daughter will also make an appearance; and Aishwarya Rai, who is a regular at the Cannes festival, might be seen making an appearance.

Cannes Festival 2022:

Last year marked a momentous occasion for India as it was named ‘country of honour” for the year, a title that is given to Spain this year. Deepika Padukone was named one of the eight prominent jury members for the Cannes Film Festival 2022. Though the actress had walked the Cannes red carpet multiple times, this was special as she was part of the jury.

Deepika Padukone wore a custom Sabyasachi couture sari at the festival last year.

Aishwary Rai Bachhan, Nawazuddin Siddique, Pooja Hegde, Urvashi Rautela, Diipa Khosla, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Hina Khan were among the others who attended the 75th edition of the Cannes Festival last year, apart from Deepika Padukone.

The Cannes Film Festival continues to be a unique event where top filmmakers from across the world come together to present their best work, bridging cultural divides and having a lasting influence on the world’s film community.
