Washington: In a major update, Twitter CEO Elon Musk on Wednesday announced that the microblogging site is set to add new features, including direct messages in threads with voice and video chat, on its platform.
Elon Musk took to Twitter and added: “With latest version of app, you can DM reply to any message in the thread (not just most recent) and use any emoji reaction. Release of encrypted DMs V1.0 should happen tomorrow. This will grow in sophistication rapidly.”

He further added: “The acid test is that I could not see your DMs even if there was a gun to my head. Coming soon will be the voice and video chat from your handle to anyone on this platform, so you can talk to people anywhere in the world without giving them your phone number.”
Elon Musk further confirmed that the DM (Direct Message) facility will be in action from May 11.
Earlier on Monday, Musk took to Twitter and added: “We’re purging accounts that have had no activity at all for several years, so you will probably see followers count drop.”
