FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post, and found it to be misleading.

Running a Reverse Image Search of the viral picture, we found a news report in Arbejderen a Danish digital newspaper, titled: Israel har angrebet palæstinensere ved al-Aqsa-moskeen under hele ramadanen (English: Israel has attacked Palestinians at al-Aqsa Mosque throughout Ramadan since April 29, 2022.

The article is on regular attacks on the worshipers in the al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem during the month of Ramadan in 2022.

One of the pictures in the report matches exactly with the viral post and the description, too, informs that Palestinians were tied behind and laid on the floor of the al-Aqsa mosque on April 22, 2022.

We found similar reports about the raid in Al Jazeera and The Guardian as well.

Searching further, we found a tweet on the official and verified handle of Ramy Abdu, chairman of the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor, dated April 22, 2022.

As per the tweet, people lying on the floor are the Palestinians who were handcuffed in the al-Aqsa mosque in April 2022.

Similar tweets, dated April 15, 2022, showcase videos from the time of this incident on the official handles of some other Palestinian media houses like Al Jazeera Mubasher and Al Qastal.

Some keyframes of these videos also match with the viral picture. Therefore, we confirm that the incident did occur in 2022 and has nothing to do with the recent raids in the al-Aqsa mosque.
