Lucknow: Mark Wood’s five wicket-haul guides Lucknow SuperGiants to a dominant win by 50 runs against Delhi Capitals on Saturday.
Putting Lucknow SuperGiants to bat after winning the toss, Delhi Capitals got the wicket of skipper KL Rahul for 8 as he was dismissed by left-arm pacer Chetan Sakariya. LSG lost their first wicket at the score of 19 in the fourth over.
Kyle Mayers took charge of the innings and played a power-packed inning of 73 runs in just 38 deliveries with 7 sixes and two boundaries.
Nicolas Pooran played a cameo at the end with a quick 36 runs off 21 deliveries.
Chetan Sakariya and Khaleel Ahmed picked up two wickets each in their respective spells in the first innings.
Delhi Capitals failed to build a partnership throughout the innings as they went on to chase the momentous target of 194 runs.
Skipper David Warner tried to anchor the innings with a balanced knock of 56 runs in 48 deliveries.
LSG bowler’s took charge of the spell as they kept picking wickets at regular intervals. Mark Wood remained impactful as he dismissed Sarfaraz Khan and Mitchell Marsh in a single over. Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi secured two wickets each.
With this win, LSG will move on to play against Chennai Super Kings while DC will look to redeem as they will face Gujarat Titans on 4th April.
