PM Modi Expresses Joy After Cheetah Brought From Namibia Gives Birth To 4 Cubs, Calls It “Wonderful News”

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday expressed happiness after three-year-old female cheetah ‘Siyaya’, translocated to India from Namibia on September 17, 2022, gave birth to four cubs, terming it as “wonderful news”.

In a tweet, PM Modi said, “Wonderful news.”

Union Cabinet Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav shared a video of the four cubs born to ‘Siyaya’.

In a tweet, Yadav said, “Congratulations. A momentous event in our wildlife conservation history during Amrit Kaal! I am delighted to share that four cubs have been born to one of the cheetahs translocated to India on 17th September 2022, under the visionary leadership of PM Shri @narendramodi ji.”

“I congratulate the entire team of Project Cheetah for their relentless efforts in bringing back cheetahs to India and for their efforts in correcting an ecological wrong done in the past,” read another tweet by the Union minister.

“The cubs are safe in a pre-release enclosure. When the mother cheetah will bring out the cubs into the open then we’ll know about their gender,” said Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Head of Forest Force, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh JS Chouhan while talking to ANI.

Eight cheetahs brought from Namibia were released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Kuno National Park on the occasion of his birthday on September 17, 2022.
