BCCI Central Contracts: Jadeja Bags Grade A+ Category, KL Rahul Demoted

New Delhi: The announcement of ‘central contract’ for season 2022-23 came as a shocker for KL Rahul as he was demoted to the Grade B category.

KL Rahul who is currently going through a slump in his career was demoted from ‘Grade A’ to ‘Grade B’. Shardul Thakur also got demoted from the ‘Grade B’ to ‘Grade C’ category.

According to the BCCI, Annual Player’s Contracts are divided into four categories. Players under ‘Grade A+’ get ₹7 Crores, ‘Grade A’ players get ₹5 Crores, ‘Grade B’ players receive ₹3 Crores, and ‘Grade C’ players get ₹1 Crore.

The Board Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) promoted Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja to the ‘Grade A+’ category along with skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah.

Hardik Pandya was also promoted to the ‘Grade A’ category from Grade C this season. ‘Grade A’ includes R Ashwin, Mohd. Shami, Rishabh Pant, and Axar Patel.

After a successful run in both ODIs and Test format, Indian opener Shubman Gill got a major hike in contracts for the season. He was promoted from ‘Grade C’ category to ‘Grade B’.

Other players in Grade B category include Cheteshwar Pujara, Shreyas Iyer, Mohd. Siraj, Suryakumar Yadav.

‘Grade C’ witnessed a bunch of young players who were added to the central contracts this season. Young guns who bagged contracts include Ishan Kishan, Deepak Hooda, Kuldeep Yadav, Sanju Samson, Arshdeep Singh, KS Bharat.

Others in Grade C include Shikhar Dhawan, Yuzvendra Chahal, Washington Sundar, and Umesh Yadav.

Several players including Deepak Chahar, Mayank Agarwal, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Hanuma Vihari, Wriddhiman Saha, Ajinkya Rahane and Ishant Sharma were not included in this season’s Annual Player Contract.
