Fact Check: Nokia N96 Ad Viral As Bruce Lee Playing Table Tennis Using ‘Nunchucks’

A video of two people playing ping pong is being shared on social media, claiming that the clip depicts Bruce Lee playing Table Tennis using ‘Nunchucks’.

The post reads: Bruce Lee. 2v1 against professional Table Tennis players, using Nunchakus unreal. Here’s the link to the above post.

FACT CHECK

When NewsMobile fact-checked the video, it was found to be fake. Running a Google search with keywords “Bruce Lee table tennis playing”, we traced an article by Adweek titled: “5 Brilliantly Faked Viral Ads That People Still Keep Thinking Are Real”.

As per the article, the video is an ad for the Nokia N96 Bruce Lee Limited Edition, created by JWT in 2008.

We also found an interview of the JWT team with Agency. Asia. They discussed the “Bruce Lee Ping Pong” ad in the discussion.

In the interview, Polly Chu also says that the director worked hard to find the talent so that the clip seems real. This clarifies that the man in the video is not actually Bruce Lee.

Hence, it is clear that the video is being shared with false claims.
