New Delhi: After a successful win in the test series against Australia, India suffers a massive blow as middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the upcoming three-match ODI series against Aussies.
Ahead of the upcoming series, Indian fielding coach T Dilip confirmed that Iyer will miss out on the entire series due to a recurrence of his lower-back injury.
He said “Injuries are a part and parcel of the game. We have the best medical facilities and they are well-equipped… We are in coordination (with NCA). Shreyas ruled out of this series. (We will be able to provide) further update as and when we know.”
Hardik Pandya is set to lead the side in the first ODI against Australia as Rohit Sharma will miss the first match.
According to reports, Iyer is likely to miss the first half of the upcoming season of IPL, which begins on March 31.
