NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post, and found it to be misleading.
Noticing the logo of SBS at the ending frame of the video, we conducted a Reverse Image Search of the video keyframes and found a Facebook post from March 6, 2023, on the official handle of SBS Australia.
The video matches the viral clip, and as per its description, it is from The Swap — a three-part documentary series — which was set to premiere on March 8, 2023, on SBS.
When we searched for The Swap, we traced an article, titled: New SBS series ‘The Swap’ is a bold school experiment on the website of SBS Australia. As per the article, the documentary is about what happens when 12 students and families from very different cultures, religions and backgrounds are thrown into each other’s worlds.
We got to know that the mind behind the series was Ali Kadri, CEO of the Islamic College of Brisbane, the same man who is seen in the viral clip as well.
We also came across the trailer for the series on YouTube on the official channel of SBS Australia. The faces of children match with the viral video and Ali Kadri is seen in the trailer. This confirms that the viral clip is from the reality TV show The Swap.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral video claiming that children are being brainwashed in Australia to follow Islam is misleading.
