Date:

The video is shared on Facebook with the caption: “Nepali girl Murder in Bangalore MG road”

Here’s the link to the above post.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim, and found it to be MISLEADING.

Performing a Reverse Image Search with the keyframes from the viral video, we spotted a news report published by One India Kannada, dated December 30, 2021, carrying glimpses of the viral video.

According to the report, the video shows Archana Reddy’s alleged murder by her husband Kumar in Bengaluru. Reddy reportedly complained to the Jigani police station about Kumar when he began to threaten her, but nothing was done by the authorities.

Several media outlets also reported the same incident in December 2021, stating that Reddy’s daughter and Kumar demanded a portion of the alimony she received from her previous husband, Aravind, as well as a stake in the family’s property. Reddy was reportedly taken from her car on Bengaluru’s Hosa Road on December 27, 2021, while she was returning home with her little kid.

We also found a tweet by CK Baba, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru City, clarifying that the viral video is old. “Attention all: an old video circulating on social media claiming to be a recent incident on MG Road from Bengaluru is from 2021. All the accused in this case have been arrested. Do NOT spread disinformation & panic,” reads the tweet text.

Thus, it is evident from the above information that the viral video does not show a Nepali woman being murdered in Bengaluru.
