FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post, and found it to be false.

Given the sensitivity of the Ukraine-Russia war, if Twitter had issued any such notice it would have made headlines immediately. We could not find any such policy change on the Twitter rules page in the Help Centre.

A blog post on Twitter, dated March 16, 2022, describes about their approach to the war in Ukraine and steps taken by the platform in broadcasting genuine and authentic information from the war-struck countries. Here too, we could not find any policy change asking people to remove the Ukrainian flag from their profiles.

We also found that soon after this tweet the user posted an update stating that Twitter is not implementing any such rule and the image shared by them in the tweet earlier was just a meme.

Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral screenshot of a tweet claiming that Twitter is asking users to remove the Ukraine flag from their profiles is false.
