The voting process for the election of six members of the Delhi MCD Standing Committee is under way. The fresh voting does not allow mobile phones.
Citing the pandemonium in the House and allegations that councillors were taking photos of the ballot papers, the municipal secretary said new elections were preferable because the “sanctity of the election process was badly bruised”.
After this decision, I expect BJP councillors to cooperate in peaceful conduct of elections so that we will be able to work together in future on pending issues/ policies in MCD, said leader of house and AAP councillor Mukesh Goel.
BJP councillors shout slogans inside the house earlier.
