FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral video, and found it to be misleading.

Running a Reverse Image Search of the video keyframes, we identified a Reddit post from a year ago. The video matches exactly with the viral clip, and the title “Explosive eruption of Sakurajima on November 12, 2019” indicates that it is from the volcanic eruption that happened in Sakurajima in 2019.

Conducting a Google Keyword Search, we spotted a YouTube video titled: Explosive eruption of Sakurajima on November 12, 2019 桜島爆発, published on November 13, 2019, on an unverified channel. Here too, we see that the video matches exactly with the viral clip.

Running a YouTube search based on the title of the video, we found many videos matching the viral clip, all ranging from 2-3 years ago, proving that the latter is not from the recent eruption at Mount Sakurajima.

Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral video’s claim is false.
