An image of a woman standing in front of a group of men is being shared on social media, claiming that it dates back to 1955 and shows an Italian singer who tried to sell her undergarment to a crowd to teach them an important lesson.
(English Translation: Italy’s famous singer in 1955, Julia Markin, standing at an intersection in the city, took off her ‘bra’ and said: “I want to auction it, tell me how much will you pay?” The people present there became desperate to buy the bra. Auctions fetch up to $3,000. The singer burst into laughter. She said: “you are very stupid people. You want to spend three thousand dollars on this? However, if a poor hungry person wants a little food, you don’t want to pay him even $1. I am ashamed of your mentality.” This is the current situation, some can’t afford to eat two handfuls and are clueless, and some don’t know where to spend it.)

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the post, and found it to be false.
Doing a simple Reverse Image Search, we found an Instagram post by photographer Zoey Grossman, who posted the same picture on December
Also, an article by Harper’s Bazaar, dated November 20, 2018, features an image with a caption: “Katie Holmes pays homage to the demonstrator’s bravado. ZOEY GROSSMAN.”
The article also had the original image which was re-enacted by Katie Holmes. “A protester outside a San Francisco department store, 1969. BETTMANN/GETTY IMAGES,” the caption of the original image read.
When we checked the veracity of the claim, we did not find any credible information about any Italian singer by the name of Julia Markin.
