FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral picture, and found it to be false.

Running a Reverse Image Search of the viral picture, we found an article on the website of Conde Nast Traveller a travel magazine, with a title: Check Out the World’s First Underwater Tennis Court, dated November 29, 2015. The image in the article matches with the viral image.

Going through the article, we got to know that the image was just a concept for the underwater tennis court in Dubai, envisioned by a Polish architect, Krysztof Kotala. He feels that if the concept ever came to life, then the arena would be the perfect spot for a fifth Grand Slam in Dubai.

Searching further, we came across another article in New Zealand Herald published on May 8, 2015. The article, titled ‘Underwater stadium coming to Dubai?’, corroborates the claims and informs that creating such an arena would be prohibitively expensive and incredibly difficult to execute.

Another news article in Arabian Business gives an update on the project’s progress. The article, titled: Where are they now? Dubai’s underwater tennis stadium, informs that Kotala had not made much progress in attracting investors or gaining official approvals from Dubai authorities until 2019.

We could not find any recent update on the project, but it is confirmed that the arena has no relation to Switzerland or no credible proof of being made into a reality at all.

Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral picture claiming to be of the world’s first underwater tennis stadium from Switzerland is fake.
