Various images of the UAE Prime Minister Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum are doing the rounds on social media. Many users have shared these images claiming that the government has renamed the Al Minhad district of Dubai to Hind City to honour India and the Hindus’ contribution to the society.
A Facebook user posted the viral picture with a caption: Ruler of Dubai and PM of UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has ordered that a district in the Emirates be renamed.
Al Minhad and its surrounding 84 square kilometres area will now be known as “Hind City” to honour the contribution of India and Hindus towards humanity.

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral video, and found it to be misleading.
Running a Google Keyword Search about renaming of the Al Minhad district in Dubai, we traced an article published in the Gulf News, dated January 9, 2023 and titled: Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid issues directives to rename Al Minhad area as ‘Hind City’.
Although the article does state that the name of the district is being changed, it doesn’t confirm whether India and Hindus have any role to play in this move or not.
We also came across a press announcement on the official website of the Media Office of the Government of Dubai. Here too, the announcement informs that the name is being changed from Al Menhad to Hind City. We cannot find any justification behind the naming of the district. Given that it is the official government website, the official information would have included the inspiration (if any) behind the name.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral claims that the PM of the UAE renamed one of the districts in Dubai as Hind City to honour Indians and Hindus are misleading.
