‘Rules Violated’: DGCA Fines Air India ₹30 Lakh In Urination Case

Date:

Delhi: India’s civil aviation regulator has imposed a penalty of ₹30 lakh on Air India for violation of norms in the incident involving an unruly passenger accused of urinating on a co-passenger on a New York-Delhi flight.

A “financial penalty of Rs 30,00,000 has been imposed on Air India for violation of applicable DGCA Civil Aviation Requirements (CAR),” the aviation regulator said in a statement on Friday.

Referring to the shocking incident, the aviation regulator has also imposed a fine of Rs 3 lakh on Air India’s Director of in-flight services for failing to discharge her duties.

This comes a day after the airline imposed a four-month flying ban on the passenger, Shankar Mishra, for the urinating incident on November 26 last year.
