Performing a Reverse Image Search, we identified a news report carrying a glimpse similar to the viral video. According to the report, a part of the bridge over the Banas river in Banaskantha collapsed while demolishing it. Due to this, the driver of the excavator machine also fell into the dry river. According to sources, this bridge is about 70 years old, and near Umbri village in Kankrej taluka. Traffic was closed on it for four years. As the government has approved construction of a new bridge, the work of demolishing the old bridge was going on.
The viral video can be seen on the official YouTube channel of Navbharat Times, dated December 17, 2022, with a caption: “Gujarat Bridge Collapse: The bridge collapsed in Banaskantha. The work of breaking the bridge with a crane was going on, and then it broke.”
News18 India has also reported the same incident with a caption: “Gujarat News: Accident happened while breaking the bridge in Banaskantha, Gujarat… A part fell along with the machine… The driver of the machine got injured”
According to the Gujarat Tak report, a bridge in Shihori, Banaskantha, that collapsed during demolition work was an old bridge.
