Gurugram: A club owner and a friend who had come to the club to celebrate a birthday passed away in a suspicious manner in the DLF Phase-3 area of Gurugram on Monday. Two other friends were also found unconscious and were taken to the hospital in a critical state.
The owner of the Night Rider Club in Gurugram’s DLF Phase-3, Sanjeev Joshi, has been named as one of the deceased.
According to police, the man who was in his 50s and three women had gathered to celebrate the birthday around 2 am on Monday.
It is suspected that the man and the woman died of asphyxiation or suffocation after inhaling smoke from an ‘Angithi’. The cabin where the birthday was celebrated did not have any ventilation.
Though police have not found any evidence of a fight in the cabin, they are looking at all angles, including murder and death by accident.
“Prima facie, it seems to be a case of death due to suffocation. The dead bodies have been sent for postmortem and further probe is underway. A forensic team visited the site,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Virender Vij told PTI.
