The much-awaited polling for the Gujarat elections took place in two phases in the first week of December 2022. Leaders from all the contesting parties, too, turned up to cast their votes in their respective voting centres.
Against this backdrop, a viral video showing Prime Minister Narendra Modi cast his vote for the Aam Aadmi Party instead of his own party, is doing the rounds on social media. Users are sharing the video and mocking the leader for this act.
A Facebook user posted the viral video with a caption: వాహ్ సీనంటే ఇదిరా అంధభక్తా!
ఫోటోకి ఫోజిచ్చే మోజులోపడి తన పార్టీ గుర్తు కమలానికి ఓటెయ్యబోయి ప్రత్యర్ధి పార్టీ చీపురు గుర్తుకి ఓటేసిన విశ్వగురువుగా ప్రచారం కాబడుతున్న మోడీ…
Wow, this is what a scene means, blind devotee!
Modi is going to be campaigning as a universal guru, who voted for his party symbol Lotus and voted for the opposition party’s Cheep symbol…

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the viral video, and found it to be false
A Google Keyword Search yielded no results. We also did not find any credible news source backing the viral claim.
Conducting a Reverse Image Search of the video keyframes, we identified a YouTube video titled: PM Modi casts his vote for the second & final phase of Gujarat Assembly Elections 2022, on the official channel of Sansad TV — an Indian public broadcast service, dated December 5, 2022.
The video shows the entire journey of Modi from reaching the polling station to casting his vote. The keyframes match the first half of the viral video, till the time he goes behind the box covering the EVM machine, to maintain privacy.
We also came across another YouTube live video, titled: PM Shri Narendra Modi casts his vote for Gujarat Assembly election in Gandhinagar, streamed on the same day on the official YouTube channel of BJP. Here too, we could see that he went behind the box and came out after casting his vote. We could not see any keyframe showing him casting his vote on the EVM, as it is always kept secret behind a box to maintain the voter’s privacy.
Similar videos are also available on the YouTube channels of ANI, India Today, CNBC TV-18, and Zee News to name a few.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral video, claiming PM Modi voted for AAP instead of BJP in the recent Gujarat Elections, is false.
