On November 29, Rahul Gandhi and other members of the Congress party’s Bharat Jodo Yatra travelled to Madhya Pradesh and paid a visit to the Mahakal Temple in Ujjain.
Against this backdrop, a video containing two clips is widely shared on social media. In one clip, Rahul Gandhi can be seen offering prayers in Mahakal Temple in front of cameras. And in another clip, Congress leader Supriya Shrinate can be heard saying: “Despite the priests’ strong protest, hiding behind the Hindu dharma, the ‘Hindu Imposter’ entered the sanctum sanctorum of the temple with cameras.” Sharing this video, people have claimed that Shrinate criticised Rahul Gandhi’s temple visit.
The video is shared on Facebook with a caption: “राहुल गांधी ढोंगी हिंदू है, ये सब जानते हैं। चीख चीख कर बताने की ज़रूरत नहीं है।” (English translation: Rahul Gandhi is a hypocritical Hindu, he knows everything. No need to scream and tell.)

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim, and found it to be MISLEADING.
We discovered Rahul Gandhi’s images of his most recent visit to the Mahakal Temple through a Twitter keyword search. On November 29 and 30, news outlets like News18 MP-Chhattisgarh and India Today used similar video clips as seen in the viral video.

Doing a keyword search, we found another clip of the viral video uploaded on the official Facebook page of Supriya Shrinate, dated November 11, 2021. She had appeared in a debate show on Aaj Tak, and while sharing the video she titled it in Hindi: “The BJP is diverting attention from the real issues of unemployment, hunger, and exploitation of farmers. Modi Ji has made a mockery of religion by carrying a camera inside the sanctum sanctorum, doing Parikrama wearing leather shoes, despite priests’ strong protest.”
The same video was posted on Aaj Tak‘s official YouTube channel. Shrinate was heard saying in Hindi at 3.40 minutes, “Our Prime Minister entered the temple’s sanctum sanctorum with cameras, in spite of the tremendous opposition of the priests, who were sheltering behind the Hindu Dharm as the “Hindu Imposter.” He performed parikrama while sporting leather shoes. Will he impart Hindu Dharm to us?” It was evident that the phrase “Our Prime Minister” was left out of the viral video after comparing it to the original.
Thus, it is evident from the above information that Congress leader Supriya Shrinate targeted PM Modi and not Rahul Gandhi.
