Saudi Arabia scripted history on November 22, 2022, when they beat the two-time World Cup winner — Argentina, in the Group C opener match in Lusail, in the ongoing FIFA World Cup. This was only the fourth World Cup win for the Arabs and the victory throws the group wide open for the knockout standings.
Against the backdrop, a viral video claiming Saudi fans celebrating their team’s win by dancing and firing in the air is doing the rounds on social media.
A Facebook user posted the viral video with a caption: Celebration was spread across Saudi Arabia after the country’s national team beat Argentina 2:1

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the viral video, and found it to be misleading.
Running a Reverse Image Search of the clip, we identified a video, titled: Celebration with Ak-47 — Arab Sheikhs Firing in a wedding — leaklive, published seven years ago (2015) on the video-hosting platform — Dailymotion.
The video matches exactly with the viral video, and the title informs that it is about the Sheikhs firing AK-47 (assault rifle) at a wedding.
We also came across a news report on YouTube, titled: Watch continuous firing for two and half minutes in Wedding function, published on October 1, 2013, on the official channel of India TV. Here too, the video keyframes shown in the bulletin match with the viral video and the report corroborate the fact that the shooting was done at a wedding function.
None of the reports has linked the viral video to the celebrations done by the Saudis after their team’s victory in the FIFA World Cup 2022. Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral video, claiming that the Saudis celebrated their country’s win over Argentina by openly firing bullets in the air, is misleading.
