A video is doing the rounds on social media, claiming that it is a fire incident at a stadium during the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar.

The video is being shared with a caption: कतर विश्व कप स्टेडियम में भयानक आग । (English translation: Terrible fire at Qatar World Cup stadium.)

NewsMobile fact-checked the post, and found it to be old.

Putting the keyframes of the video through a Reverse Image Search, we identified the same video uploaded on a verified YouTube channel 4S-TV, dated May 13, 2018.

The translated title of the video reads: Hamburger SV — Borussia Monchengladbach | Pyro Riot & Game Interruption | 05/12/2018

Also, the Express (UK), dated May 12, 2018, had published the same report with a title: Hamburg fan protest: Chaotic scenes after Bundesliga relegation — Huge police response.

According to the report, fans protested in Hamburg against the club’s relegation from the Bundesliga. ‘Hamburg slipped out of the German top flight for the first time in 55 years despite beating Borussia Monchengladbach 2-1, causing chaos among the home supporters. Flares covered the pitch and smoke engulfed the crowd at the Volksparkstadion, delaying the end of the match as hundreds of police and stewards made their way onto the field’, the report mentioned.

We found that the same video was uploaded on the YouTube channel of DW Kick Off with the title: Hamburg in flames: Fans riot after relegation | Bundesliga Highlights


So, we can conclude that the video is old and not related to the ongoing FIFA WC in Qatar.
