Mumbai: A comment by yoga guru Ramdev sparked a major controversy after he made an objectionable comment on women’s attire at an event in Thane.
According to reports, Yoga guru Ramdev said that “Women look good in sarees, women look good in salwar suits too, and in my eyes, they look good even if they wear nothing.”
He made the comment while pointing out that many women at the event brought sarees but did not get the time to wear them because of back-to-back events.
Soon after his comment sparked controversy, Maharashtra’s State Women Commission issued a notice asking him to clarify his stand within a span of three days.
Swati Maliwal, Chairperson of the Delhi Commission of Women, sought his apology for the remarks.

She further took to Twitter and added that “The remarks made by Swami Ramdev on women in front of the wife of the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra are indecent and condemnable. All women have been hurt by this statement, Baba Ramdev ji should apologize to the country for this statement!”
NCP leaders joined and protested against the statement made by the yoga guru against women.
