New Delhi: The much-awaited Twitter Blue including the verification tag has started to roll out for Indian users. However, Indian users will have to pay ₹719 per month, which is costlier than the $8 per month price in the US.
With the kick-in of this feature, Twitter accounts with ‘blue tick’ verification will have to pay ₹719 per month to continue having the verification tag along with their accounts.
However, the price and subscription details are not yet official in India. According to media reports, some users are getting the prompt to subscribe to the feature.
Users in India have been reluctant with the news of them paying more for the feature than most countries. Indian users will pay $8.91 (as of today) which is around 73 rupees more for the feature.
According to reports, Elon Musk while announcing Twitter Blue said that the cost of the feature will differ from place to place based on the Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) which means the ability of spending that a country has.
However, Twitter Blue is yet to announce a country-wide roll out in India with details on the price for the subscription. Netizens have expressed their displeasure over the price. Here are some of the reactions:
