Washington: The ‘Chief Twit’ Elon Musk is facing massive outrage and trolling amid the announcement of blue tick verification for a specific monthly fee of $8 with celebrities changing their names to Elon Musk.
In a response to the backlash, Musk said that the accounts that engage in any kind of “impersonation” will be suspended permanently without any warning.
Musk in a tweet added that “Going forward, any Twitter handles engaging in impersonation without clearly specifying ‘parody’ will be permanently suspended”.
Recently, Comedian Kathy Griffin’s Twitter account was suspended for impersonating the name of Elon Musk on her account as a protest over the dangers of doing away with identity verification.
