T20 World Cup 2022: Miller, Markram Duo Shine As South Africa Beat India By Five Wickets

Date:

Perth: Stunning half-centuries from Aiden Markram and David Miller held South Africa clinch a crucial victory against India by five wickets in the ongoing T20 World Cup on Sunday.

With this win, South Africa moves to the top of the table with five points in three matches. India slips to the number two position on the points table.

KL Rahul continues to struggle with his form in the tournament with a string of low scores at the top of the order. Skipper Rohit Sharma failed to capitalize on the situation and was dismissed by Lungi Ngidi.

Ngidi further took the crucial wicket of Indian star batsman Virat Kohli after getting caught in the middle. Deepak Hooda, who was playing as an extra batting option failed to make any impact in pressure as he was dismissed without getting any runs.

India settled the target at a low score of 134 runs in 20 overs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Arshdeep Singh gave a strong start to the Indian side with Singh picking up two crucial wickets, followed by Shami dismissing skipper Bavuma.

However, Markram and Miller take charge and carry the innings with a crucial partnership leading them to a much-needed win. Arshdeep Singh finished as the top bowler for India, taking 2/29. Pandya, Shami and Ashwin got a wicket each.

India will next face Bangladesh on 2nd November at the Adelaide Oval Stadium in the Super 12 league matches.
