Melbourne: India and Pakistan are all set to kickstart their T20 World Cup campaign on Sunday at the iconic MCG stadium.
The cricket world with fans from both sides is hyped up to witness the blockbuster match. However, rain is likely to spoil the event. According to reports, from Friday, there is a heavy likelihood of showers until October 25.
The Australian Bureau of Meteorology predicted the weather to be “Cloudy. Very high (95 percent) chance of showers, most likely in the afternoon and evening. Winds southerly 15 to 25 km/h turning southeasterly during the evening.”
The report further predicted chances of rainfall between 4 to 10mm on Sunday. The match will be taking place in India at 1:30 PM, which translates to around 7 PM in Melbourne. In this case, the weather forecast on the match day looks like a scary sight for cricket lovers across India and Pakistan.
For the rest of the week, the possibility of showers will decline from October 26, Wednesday onwards, with a 60 percent (Medium) chance of showers on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.
A match in the T20 World Cup needs to be played with a minimum of 5 overs. The tournament has no reserve days for situations of rain hampering a match during the league stage. However, reserve days are in place for semis and final matches.
