Fact Check: No, This Scene Showing Conversation Between Gandhi & Savarkar Is NOT From The Movie ‘Gandhi’

A video clip from the 1982 film ‘Gandhi’ directed by Richard Attenborough, is being shared on social media with a claim that it depicts conversation between Mahatma Gandhi and Veer Savarkar.

We ran a  search and found the full Gandhi movie on YouTube. However, we did not find this scene anywhere in the film.

We then ran another keyword search and found that the same clip was uploaded on YouTube on April 4, 2011, with the title: Savarkar meets Gandhi at Ratnagiri.

The video description read: Vinayak Damodar Savarkar meets Mahatma Gandhi at Ratnagiri. Clip from the movie Veer Savarkar.

We also found Veer Savarkar movie on YouTube where this clip can be found at 2:30:07 time code.

Veer Savarkar is a 2001 film that was written and directed by Ved Rahi.

From the above fact check, it is clear that the clip is not the 1982 film Gandhi which was directed by Richard Attenborough. Hence, the claim is false.
