A video showing a building on fire followed by clashes between two groups is being widely shared on social media with a claim that a Hindu temple in UK’s Birmingham was burned down by Muslims during Navratri.
The video is being shared on Facebook with the caption, “Birmingham temple burnt by Muslims during Navratri. Hindus beat up. England police ineffective in Saving Hindus.”

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim and found it to be MISLEADING.
On closely observing the video, we found two boards that read “SUPERMARKET” and “SM Vapes”. We then searched for this on Google Maps and found the same shops in Birmingham.
We conducted a keyword search using the word “Zeenat supermarket Birmingham fire” and found a British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) report from September 20, 2022. According to the report, a store fire broke out on September 19 and 12 fire tenders were dispatched to Alum Rock Road.
Searching further, we found the same visuals uploaded on Daily Mail’s website on September 20.
According to the story, the battle started as the firefighters attempted to put out the fire. The investigators “are satisfied that the fire originated inadvertently” according to West Midlands Fire Service.
UPDATE: Our investigators are satisfied that last night’s supermarket fire in Saltley started accidentally, when the outdoor burning of rubbish spread to the building. The details: https://t.co/cIgSyDk2JA pic.twitter.com/Up8x3g6nAf

Replying to the now-deleted tweet that carried the viral video, West Midlands Police also clarified that “the video shows a fire at a supermarket in Birmingham on 19 September which was caused accidentally when a rubbish fire spread to the building.”
This is false. The video shows a fire at a supermarket in Birmingham on 19 September which was caused accidentally when a rubbish fire spread to the building.

The police also stressed that the altercation was a singular incident and that it had to do with the parking of certain cars.
Thus, it is evident from the above information that an unrelated video is being falsely shared as a Hindu temple in UK’s Birmingham torched by Muslims during Navratri.
