Fact Check: No, The Viral Video Of Police Blowing Sirens In Ears Of Miscreants Is NOT From Bihar

A video has gone viral on social media where policemen can be see making people blow sirens in each other’s ears. It is being claimed that this happened during the recent Navratri fair in Bihar. According to the caption, policemen caught miscreants who were blowing sirens at a fair in Bihar and forced them to blow sirens in each other’s ears.

Some captions claim that this happened in Bihar, while others claim it to be from Uttar Pradesh or Haryana.

One of the social media posts was shared with a caption that read, “बिहार पुलिस ऐसे कामों को लेकर हमेशा चर्चा में रहती हैं ये वीडियो भोंपू बजाने वालों के लिए हैं गज़ब का दिमाग़ लगाए है पुलिस वाले ने” (English translation, “Bihar Police is always in limelight for such works, these videos are for those who play the siren, the policeman has put a wonderful mind.”)

NewsMobile did a fact-check and found the claim to be misleading.

On searching with appropriate keywords, we found the same video was shared by The Lallantop on October 6, 2022, with a caption claiming that the video is from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. The video was shared on its official Facebook account and was captioned, “सड़क पर भोंपू बजाकर शोर मचाने वालों को अनोखी सजा, पुलिस ने कान में बजाया भोंपू एमपी के जबलपुर में सड़क पर भोंपू बजाने वालों को पुलिस ने रोककर अनोखी सजा दी. पुलिस ने खुद लोगों के कान में भोंपू बजाया और उनसे आपस में भी बजवाया.” (English translation, “Unique punishment for those who made noise by blowing a siren on the road, the police played the siren in the ear. In Jabalpur, MP, the police stopped those who played the siren on the road and gave a unique punishment. The police themselves blew horns in the ears of the people and made miscreants do the same to each other.”)

The screenshot of the viral video was also shared by ABP Live on October 7, 2022. The report claimed that the incident was of Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.

Hence, we can ascertain that the viral video is from Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur. Thus, the viral claim is misleading.
