Young Guns Led By Shikhar Dhawan To Clash With Proteas In First ODI

Date:

Lucknow: As the Indian T20 side left for Australia, the Dhawan-led ODI side will take on South Africa in a three-match ODI series starting on Thursday at the Ekana Cricket Stadium.

A young and fresh Indian side will clash with the Proteas in the series. The series has two debutants in the form of middle-order power hitter Rajat Patidar and Bengal in-form pacing sensation Mukesh Kumar.

However, the focus of the series will be reserved pacers who will join the ODI squad including Deepak Chahar and Mohammed Siraj.

Skipper Shikhar Dhawan will lead a younger side and added, “The new boys have brought in new energy. They have been doing well in the last few series,”.

The players will be looking to make the most of the opportunity and become impact players for the future ahead of the ICC World Cup scheduled next year.

The South African side must register wins in this series to secure a position in the top eight that qualifies for the World Cup.

The toss and match time for the first ODI game has been pushed by half an hour due to rain.
