In the backdrop of Congress’ ‘Bharat Jodo’ Yatra, a video of a group of people walking with a flag is being widely shared on social media with a claim that Congress party workers raised Pakistan’s flag during the Yatra.
The video is being shared on Facebook with the caption, “क्या कोई समझा सकता है कि इन दिनो कांग्रेस के राहुल गांधी पाकिस्तान का झंडा लेकर क्या संदेश देना चाह रहे है भारत जोड़ो यात्रा से?”
(English translation: Can anyone explain what message Rahul Gandhi of Congress is trying to convey by taking Pakistan’s flag these days from Bharat Jodo Yatra?)

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim and found it to be MISLEADING.
Using the InVid Tool, we extracted keyframes from the viral video and performed a Reverse Image Search. This search directed us to an Instagram handle that carried a clearer version of the same video. We can clearly see ‘IUML PATTAMBI MANDALAM COMMITTEE’ written on the banner.
Taking a cue from this, we searched further and found the same video uploaded on the Facebook page Muslim Youth League Guruvayur on September 26. The caption of the video is in Malayalam, which translates in English to ‘Muslim League Patambi, welcomes Indian hero Rahul Gandhi’.
We did a comparative analysis of the flag of Pakistan and that of the Indian Union Muslim League party in the video. The size of the crescent moon and the star in the Pakistan flag is larger than the size of the crescent moon and the star in the Muslim League flag and they are placed in the centre of the flag. However, in the Muslim League flag, the crescent moon and the star are on the left side and face a different direction.
Thus, is it evident from the above information that the flag of the Muslim League is being falsely shared as Pakistani flag raised during Congress’s ‘Bharat Jodo’ Yatra.
