Guwahati: India beat South Africa by 16 runs securing a 2-0 lead in the ongoing series on Sunday.
India took the crease in the first innings with opening pair KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma. The pair took the innings with an aggressive start. The opening pair gave a strong start with a partnership of 96 runs.
KL Rahul slammed a dominating half-century while Rohit Sharma was dismissed for 43 runs. The in-form pair of Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli took the innings with an aggressive stand. Suryakumar played a power-packed inning of 61 runs in just 22 deliveries.
Virat Kohli returned unbeaten on 49 runs in 28 deliveries. With this performance, Suryakumar Yadav became the fastest player to complete 1,000 runs in terms of balls (573) in T20I.
The Indian side set up a mammoth total of 238 runs for South Africa to chase in the second innings.
South Africa had a slow start with the opening pair failing to get a quick start in the powerplay. David Miller and Quinton de Kock played a crucial knock but fell short at the end of the innings. Miller scored an unbeaten century while Quinton de Kock added 69 runs in the match.
India will clinch the T20 home series for the first time playing against South Africa.
