The jail administration in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, has come up with a unique solution to help people escape “bad karma” for a small fee of 500 every night spent in jail.
According to the TOI, the Haldwani prison is now over 100 years old, built in 1903, the area of the former jail is currently being renovated to provide lodging for tourists looking for a genuine jail experience.
The initiative appeared to have an astrological aspect because some people are advised to serve time in prison to ward off the belief known as “Bandhan yog,” which predicts that the person in question would be imprisoned in the future.
The prison’s deputy jail superintendent Satish Sukhija told TOI, “All such cases are mainly of people whose astrologers predict that a jail term is inevitable as per the planetary positions in their horoscope.”
Three celestial bodies in an unfavorable alignment in a person’s birth chart form an equation that anticipates the possibility of imprisonment. In these circumstances, astrologers typically suggest that the individual spend the night in jail and eat the meal that is served to inmates to avoid the negative effects.
