FACT CHECK

NewsMobile did the fact check, and found it to be fake.

Doing a Google Reverse Image Search, we found the same video uploaded by EuroNews, dated August 13, 2015, with a caption: “Video footage shows the moment a fireball ripped through the night sky in China. The massive explosion erupted in an industrial area in the city of Tianjin. State TV said the blast erupted in a shipment of explosives around 11.30 pm local time. The state news agency reported that the fire was under control, but two firefighters were reported missing. The blast wave could be felt several kilometres away and injured at least 50 people.”

The BBC News had also uploaded the video of the explosion on August 14, 2016, with a caption: “Footage of two massive explosions in the Chinese city of Tianjin, taken by a stunned eyewitness, captured the fear and terror of those who saw what happened. Dozens of people died and hundreds were injured when a warehouse, owned by a company specialising in handling hazardous goods, caught fire and exploded. City officials say they did not know what materials were at the warehouse at the time of the fire, or what caused the blasts. Eyewitness Dan van Duren filmed the moment of the explosions, before he and others fled to avoid the danger.”

There were no media reports about the recent blast, if any, in Beijing. Thus, the viral claim is fake.
