Uttarakhand Teen Murder Case: Family Prepares For Last Rites Amid Massive Protest

Pauri: Massive protest erupts outside the mortuary in Srinagar, where the girl’s father arrived to take her body for last rites

Earlier, the protestors blocked the Rishikesh-Badrinath Highway in front of the hospital. The administration team tried clearing the jam caused due to the barricading. The masses demanded the post-mortem report of the deceased and capital punishment for the culprits.

The deceased’s family further refused to perform the last rites and demanded the handover of the post-mortem report on Sunday.

The brother of the deceased said that “We won’t conduct her last rites until her post-mortem report is given. We saw in the provisional report that she was beaten up and was thrown in the river.”

The SIT has further added that WhatsApp chats of the deceased are part of the investigation. According to police sources close to newswire agency ANI, in the chat, The girl is telling her friend that the owner of the resort is pressuring her to provide ‘extra service’ to the guests.

The report further added that an employee at the resort alleged that the girl called her on September 17 crying and asked him to take her bags out of the resort.

Earlier on Saturday, the Vanatara resort in Rishikesh owned by expelled BJP leader Vinod Arya’s son Pulkit Arya, who is allegedly accused in the murder case, was set on fire by angry locals.
