A Facebook user posted the viral picture with a caption: जीवित पिता का श्राद्ध करते हुए कलयुगी बेटे भैयाजी। (English translation: Kalyugi son Bhaiyaji performing Shradh for the living father.)
The caption on the picture translates to: Only a great man can do the work of feeding sweets to a living father.

Looking at the picture, we can see the logo of the Indian news agency — ANI — on the top right corner. Conducting a Google Reverse Image Search with relevant keywords, we found a tweet published by ANI UP/UTTARAKHAND, dated November 22, 2021. The tweet contains the viral picture and further clarifies that images are from the ‘havan’ and cake-cutting ceremony organised by SP workers at the unit’s office in Lucknow to celebrate the birthday of party’s founder-patron Mulayam Singh Yadav.

A YouTube video — published on the official channel of ANI, dated November 22, 2021 and titled: SP workers perform ‘havan’, cut cake to celebrate Mulayam Singh Yadav’s 82nd birthday — shows few glimpses of the entire programme.
To our surprise, Akhilesh Yadav was nowhere to be seen in all the photos and videos from the ceremony. The viral frame at 00:39 matches exactly with the viral video, and immediately after that frame we can see the face of the person (when he turns) after feeding cake to the picture of Mulayam Singh. Evidently, he is not Akhilesh Yadav, but a party member. The same video is also published by NDTV India and Navbharat Times.
Also, a Hindi News article posted on Navbharat Times, dated November 22, 2021, and titled: Video: सपा कार्यकर्ताओं ने धूमधाम से कुछ ऐसे मनाया मुलायम सिंह यादव का जन्मदिन, informs that SP workers conducted a havan and cut the cake for their leader’s 82nd birthday. This is when a worker fed cake to the photograph of Mulayam Singh Yadav. Here too, we could not find a single instance where Akhilesh Yadav was present during the event.
This proves that the person in the viral image is not Akhilesh Yadav but a party worker, who was celebrating Mulayam Singh’s birthday in 2021.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the claim by the viral post is false.
