FACT CHECK
NewsMobile did the fact-check, and found it to be misleading.
On doing a Google Reverse Image Search with one of the screenshots, we found a similar image shared by NDTV, dated August 15, 2022. According to the article associated with the image, Karnataka unit of the Congress took out a mega ‘freedom march’ in Bengaluru to commemorate 75 years of Independence. Many people from across the state had participated in the rally.
Congress also tweeted a video of the event on August 15, 2022, with a caption: “Bengaluru celebrates Independence Day with Congress party’s ‘freedom march’ — a march for freedom, for hope and for our pride.”
According to a report by The Hindu, “It was approximately a seven-km-long march, which started from Sangolli Rayanna’s statue near the Bengaluru City Railway Station, and after passing through major areas of Bengaluru, culminated in a public meeting at the National College ground at Basavanagudi in almost four hours.”
Thus, we can ascertain that the viral video is not of Congress’ Bharat Jodo Rally and its claim is misleading.
