Afghanistan won the toss and put India to bat first. KL Rahul and Virat set the tone with an aggressive start. Virat Kohli scored an unbeaten 71st century after going through a significant slump in his career.
KL Rahul played a crucial knock and added 62 runs. India set up a mammoth score of 212 runs in the first innings. Afghanistan’s innings shattered as Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar walked through their batting line up. Kumar picked 5-wickets haul during his spell. He further became the highest wicket-taker for India in T20I.
Ibrahim Zadran played a stable innings of 64 runs during the chase but failed to build a partnership as the team bundled after scoring 111 runs.
