A cricket match was held between Pakistan and Afghanistan on September 7, 2022, as a part of the Asia Cup Tournament. After Afghanistan lost the match, disappointed Afghan fans assaulted Pakistan supporters and also destroyed several properties at the stadium.
Against the above backdrop, a video of a scuffle inside a cricket stadium has gone viral with a claim that it is of the recent fight that happened in Sharjah. The caption associated with the image reads: “Afghanistan vs Pakistan fans fight.”

NewsMobile did the fact-check and found it to be misleading.
On doing a Google Reverse Image Search with one of the screenshots, we found the same video uploaded by a YouTube channel on June 30, 2018, with a caption: “Fight during Pakistan vs Afghanistan match, 29th June 2019, ICC World Cup.”
The same video was had been uploaded by Sun TV, dated June 30, 2019, with the caption: “Shocking new footage emerges of Pakistan and Afghanistan fans brawling during Cricket World Cup.”
This incident had been also reported by The Indian Express. According to the report, “At least two fans have been evicted from the Headingley Carnegie premises at Leeds after clashes broke out between the fans of Pakistan and Afghanistan during the World Cup match.”
Hence, we can ascertain that the viral claim is misleading.
