Halla Bol Rally | Hatred Is Increasing Under BJP, 2 Industrialists Benefitting From Hate: Rahul Gandhi

Date:

New Delhi: Congress holds ‘Mehangai Par Halla Bol’ mega rally against price rise, unemployment, and Goods and Services Tax (GST) hike at Ramlila Maidan in the national capital on Sunday.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi addressed the rally. Gandhi attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP government, saying since the BJP came to power, anger and hatred have increased and that the RSS is diving the country and creating fear amongst the citizens.

He also said that the government’s policies are benefitting only two big industrialists and he can not be a PM without their support.

“The BJP and the RSS divide the country. They develop fear and divide people. Who gets the advantage of this fear? Is it poor, farmer, small traders who is getting any benefit from the Narendra Modi government? Only two corporate people are getting the benefit of hatred and fear,” Rahul Gandhi said.

He further stated, “The BJP is giving all the benefits to two people. Now see Narendra Modi did notebandi. Did it help the poor? The three laws were not for farmers, but they were for those two corporate houses only. But the farmers came on the road and showed their power to Narendra Modi.”

Meanwhile, adequate security arrangements were made in and around the Ramlila Maidan in central Delhi, the Delhi Police had also issued a traffic advisory earlier on Sunday, reportedly, alerting commuters about road closures, deployed the local police at the venue for the rally and metal detectors are placed at the entry points of the ground.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi and party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra are not participating in the rally.

Congress has been attacking the government over price rise and unemployment and saying that these are issues of the common people and should be discussed at all forums.

Recently, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra lashed out at the central government over unemployment in a tweet.

The party ahead of the rally said, “Those who raised the slogan ‘Bahut hui mehangai ki maar, ab ki baar Modi sarkar,’ inflation is constantly making new records in their government. The life of the common man has become difficult due to inflation, which cannot be tolerated under any circumstances.”

Notably, the party will also launch its 3,500-km ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ from Kanyakumari to Kashmir starting September 7, where Rahul Gandhi will walk across the country highlighting the issues of price hikes and unemployment.

The 148-day march will culminate in Kashmir. The five-month Yatra is scheduled to cover a distance of 3,500 kilometers and more than 12 states. The Padyatra (march) will cover a distance of 25 km every day.

The Yatra will include Padayatras, rallies, and public meetings which will be attended by the senior Congress leaders including Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. The Congress suffered a debacle in the assembly polls held earlier this year and the Yatra is seen as an attempt to rally the party rank and file for the upcoming electoral battles.

However, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Sambit Patra on Saturday took a jibe at the ‘Bharat Jodo Andolan’ of Rahul Gandhi and called it a “Gandhi Parivar Bachao” Andolan.

“Congress is starting ‘Bharat Jodo Andolan’ So, we would like to tell them that only such a person can unite India, who can leave corruption. This is not a “Bharat Jodo” but a “Gandhi Parivar Bachao” Andolan. I would also like Rahul Gandhi to comment on this and state the truth,” the BJP spokesperson said while hitting out at Congress.
